“GenderWave” is designed for, but not limited, to marine science and technology. It invites researchers to answer questions about the relevance of gender in their projects with the help of examples.

This document provides an executive summary for the Summative Evaluation report of the Baltic Gender project. It gives a brief summary of the purpose, key content, project highlights and conclusions that are elaborated on in more detail in the full version of the report (submitted to the European Commission in August 2020).

               
         

 

 

Report on mentoring program (July 2020)

This report provides a summary of the activities related to the preparation, implementation and completion of the mentoring program and summarizes the experiences of all program participants and involved staff as well as opinions on the program as a whole.

This report summarizes the findings on structural changes as a result of actions implemented through Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) and presents additional considerations. 

 

               
           

Gender-Sensitive Teaching: An introduction for teaching staff in STEM  (June 2020)

This brochure focuses on STEM subjects and examples from Marine Sciences or related disciplines. It concentrates on two facets of gender-sensitive teaching, namely "Gender in curricula" and "Gender-sensitive teaching set-ups". 

           

Dealing with sexualized violence on expeditions        (June 2020)

This resource provides measures for the prevention of sexualized violence at sea. It includes:

  • a leaflet with detailed information on sexualized violence and basic information for all
  • a contact sheet, which gives access to information on who to contact
  • a presentation, which gives guidelines to prevent sexualized violence, based on the leaflet

Report on the activities in the established grass-reoot networks (April 2020) 

 

This reports presents the process of establishing new grass-root networks or identifying existing ones within the eight partners of the Baltic Gender project. It describes the activities in the respective networks during the project time and the reflections made within this task. 

         

 

 

 

Report on best practices for re-entry into science after a critical career break (April 2020)

This report analyses funding opportunities for employees at critical career moments (e.g. re-entry positions) considering national regulations and best practices in the 8 partner institutions of Baltic Gender. 

               
           

Database of gender-sensitive indicators (December 2019)

This database reports on the gender-sensitive indicators used by the Baltic Gender project to look at the status of gender equality in its 8 partner institutions. It includes:

  • a handbook, which has been developed to accompany the data. The handbook contains guidance on the collection of sex-disaggregated data and the calculation of the indicators.

  • the data (from Summer 2019) in XML format in two seperate documents; (i) data on the quantitative indicators and (ii) data on the qualitative indicators.

               
           

 

Report on surveys for staff training sessions (November 2019)

This report provides a summary of the training activities, including an assessment of the individual training sessions, held at Baltic Gender partner institutions.

 

           

Formative evaluation report of the status of the GEPs -  Executive Summary (April 2019)

Report on the checklist for maintaining contact with individuals taking family breaks (February 2019)

This report aims to compile a checklist that will help to maintain contacts with the individuals taking family breaks and for employees returning to regular working conditions afterwards. Binding procedures will be recommended to guarantee a successful career continuation with continuous institutional support.

           

Report on the simulated trial evaluations for promotion (December 2018)

This report aims to support individual women scientists in the fields of marine science and technologies in the Baltic Gender partner organizations to take the next step of their respective careers. Another was to make a reflection on if and how this task could be developed in the future, within organizations or in cooperation with other organizations.

 

     

   

      

Gender Equality in Marine Sciences: Best practices on structural change (August 2018)

This brochure provides various best practice measures in the different Baltic Gender institutions. They are presented together with recommendations for their implementention, as example for other institutions.

     

 

   

 

 

     

   

 

Leaflet: Recommendations for family -friendly strategies and institutional practices in higher education and research organisations (August 2018)

This leaflet provides some exemplary practices and gives recommendations to facilitate a better work-life balance among employees in higher education and research organizations.

Summary report: National Legislations on Gender Equality  (April 2018)

Announcement of the winners of the youth creative contest „Insight into women in Marine Science & Technology”

 

We are excited to announce the winners of the youth creative contest „Insight into women in Marine Science & Technology.

We were gratify to receive 29 contributions from 14-18 years old youth for the period from the 4th of September until the 5th of November, 2017. We do hope that we contributed with organization of this Creative Contest to the promotion of Marine S & T as a career possibility. Also, that we inspired students to think creatively not only about their career possibilities but also about gender issues in marine S&T.

Special thanks to our judges, Dr. Andris Andrusaitis, Prof. Susan Buckingham, Dr. Richard Langlais, Dr. Dalia Šatkovskienė, Dr. Nina Steinweg, Egle Deltuvaite and Jan Steffen for taking on this task.
