WP3 Structural changes

WP3 aims to identify meaningful and effective structural changes in the partner institutions leading to an improvement of gender equality and to develop recommendations to guide the implementation of Gender Equality Plans.

Tasks

Task 3.1: Review and improvement of policies and practices (Task leader: Kiel CAU)

Structural changes in an institution mean that improved systematic and sustainable approaches are applied to key processes and procedures within and throughout the institution. Structural changes in order to improve gender equality include the removal of often-unconscious barriers and the reduction of the influence of implicit stereotypes on decisions and developments.

This task aims to review and assess structures and processes (including recruitment procedures, decision-making processes and allocation of resources) in the partner institutions regarding their gender balance, fairness and transparency. In this regard, the top-level personnel, units and committees responsible for gender equality policies at the partner institutions play an important role.

Tasks 3.2 & 3.3. Setting targets and monitoring progress via gender-sensitive indicators on structural changes (Task leader: Kiel CAU)

Aggregated gender segregated data on structural changes could comprise, e.g., horizontal/ vertical segregation (gender pay-gap), allocation of lab space, gender balance in decision-making boards and committees. This task aims to develop indicators from such data and analyse the resultant trends, enabling the consortium to recommend possible targets and innovative strategies toward Gender Equality Plans of the partner institutions.
